Professor Marcia Johnson earned her juris doctorate from the University of Florida Law School and her undergraduate degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Florida. She has been a tenured professor at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law since September 1998. She served as Interim Associate Dean and Interim Dean of Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 1998 and 1999. Johnson teaches civil procedure and community activism, social policy and law. She founded the Earl Carl Institute in 1992 which she directed until 2012. She founded the Urban Research and Resource Center in 2017 serving as its director until 2019. Johnson has published numerous articles and casebooks and has been active in community service.
