What is the Housing Stability Task Force?
The Housing Stability Task Force is a cross sector group established by the local COVID-19 Recovery Czars with the purpose of addressing the effects of the rental housing crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic downturn on the energy sector.
The goal of the Task Force is to mitigate the impacts of the COVID19 crisis on tenants and landlords by stabilizing households and preventing an increase of evictions. The task force will do this by providing proactive advice that will enable government officials and other partners to take preventive steps to minimize the negative effects of the on-going housing crisis on public health (both physical and economic.)
If the Task Force is successful the community will be able to prevent increased pressure on government and non-profit services that would result from a spike in homelessness and mortgage foreclosure.
